# Essay Feedback

A student pastes an essay, optionally with the assignment prompt, essay type, level (middle school to upper-level college, or English language learner), word limit, the teacher's rubric and earlier teacher comments. The app returns:

- a band from 1 (Beginning) to 4 (Strong) for five criteria: thesis and argument, structure and paragraphing, evidence and reasoning, clarity and style, grammar and mechanics;
- for each criterion: a short assessment, one to three quotes copied from the student's own sentences, and one concrete revision step (guidance, not replacement text);
- what works, the two or three revisions to make first, fit to the assignment, an assessment of each rubric line, and questions to ask while revising.

The page checks every quote against the essay word for word and flags any that is not there, flags a missing word-limit warning, and flags a suggestion long enough to be ghostwriting.

Revision loop: after revising, the student pastes the new draft and gets before and after bands per criterion, whether each earlier suggestion was acted on, quotes from the new draft and the next step. The page itself counts what changed (words, reworded sentences, readability, repetition).

Free, in the browser, no sign-in: word and sentence counts, average and longest sentence, Flesch reading ease and grade level (English), overused words, repeated sentence openers, filler phrases, passive constructions, one-sentence and very long paragraphs, word-limit status. Three examples replay free.

Paid per run with SkillSafe credits (no API key): feedback, the revision check, and reading a photo of a handwritten page into text (mistakes kept, so the student can check it before asking for feedback). Feedback can be written in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or the essay's own language. History is saved to the student's SkillSafe account.

It is a learning tool: it does not write, finish or rewrite essays, and it is a second reader, not a teacher's grade.
